Termites
Find them early. Protect what you own.

Found termites? Leave them alone and call.
Spraying, breaking open or removing damaged timber can disturb termites and send them elsewhere in the building, which makes them harder to find and treat. Leave the area as it is, keep a note or photo of what you saw, and book an inspection.
What makes a property attractive to termites
Moisture
Leaking taps and pipes, blocked gutters, poor drainage and damp subfloors.
Timber touching the soil
Fence posts, garden edging, sleepers, stored timber and old stumps.
Covered slab edges
Garden beds, mulch, paving or soil built up over the edge of the slab.
Poor airflow under raised floors
Blocked vents and clutter under the house keep timber damp.

How often should I have a termite inspection?
Many properties benefit from an inspection at least once a year, and more often where the risk is higher. Chris can advise what makes sense for your property once he has seen it.
What is the difference between an inspection and a treatment?
An inspection finds out whether termites are active, whether there is damage and what is making the property attractive to them. Treatment deals with active termites and helps protect the building afterwards. Treatment is always planned from what an inspection finds.
Can termites be dealt with before we build?
Yes. Termite management is simplest to plan before construction starts. See pre-construction termite management, or call Chris early in your project.
