Termites

Termite inspections

A thorough inspection of the interior, roof void, subfloor, perimeter and garden, looking for termite activity, damage and the conditions that attract termites. Chris does the inspection and talks you through what he finds.

What the inspection covers

Termites work out of sight, so the inspection goes wherever they are likely to be.

  • Interior

Skirting boards, door and window frames, architraves, built-ins and other accessible timber.

  • Roof void

Roof timbers and framing where they can be safely accessed.

  • Subfloor

Bearers, joists, stumps and piers on raised homes where there is access.

  • Perimeter and exterior

Slab edges, weep holes, external walls, decks, pergolas and stairs.

  • Garden and yard

Fences, sleepers, stumps, trees, timber landscaping and outbuildings.

What Chris looks for

  • Live termites

Active termites in timber, the garden or around the building.

  • Mud leads and tubes

Earth tunnels termites build to travel between the soil and timber.

  • Damage

Timber that is hollow, soft, or has been eaten out from the inside.

  • Conditions that attract termites

Moisture from leaks or poor drainage, timber touching the soil, garden beds built up against walls and covered slab edges.

How often should you have one?

Many properties benefit from a termite inspection at least once a year, and more often where the risk is higher. That includes homes with a history of termite activity, timber homes on stumps, and properties surrounded by bushland or established gardens.

Chris can advise what makes sense for your property once he has seen it.

Buying, selling or managing a property?

If you are about to buy a property, manage a rental or simply want a current picture of a home you own, an inspection gives you clear information before you make decisions.

Call Chris to talk through what you need. He will explain what the inspection includes and what you will receive afterwards before you book.

Found termites? Leave them alone.

Spraying, breaking open or removing damaged timber can disturb termites and make them harder to treat. Leave the area as it is and book an inspection.

What are the signs of termites?

Look for mud tubes on slabs, piers or walls, timber that is damaged or sounds hollow when tapped, small piles of discarded wings near windows and doors, or live termites. If you notice any of these, avoid disturbing the area and book an inspection.

Do you inspect rental and investment properties?

Yes. Chris inspects owner-occupied homes, rentals and investment properties, and works with landlords and property managers.

Can you inspect commercial properties?

Yes. Termite inspections are available for commercial and industrial premises as well as homes. Call to discuss access and timing.
