Termites

Termite treatment & management

When termites are found, the job is to deal with the active termites and then help protect the structure from here on. Every treatment is planned around what the inspection finds.

  • Homes
  • Rentals
  • Commercial premises
  • Industrial properties

Treatment starts with an inspection

There is no single treatment that suits every property. Before recommending anything, Chris inspects the property to find where termites are active, how they are getting in and what damage has been done.

You then get a clear explanation of the options, what each involves and the price, before any work starts.

What shapes the plan

  • How the building is constructed

Slab-on-ground, raised timber floors and extensions all need different thinking.

  • Where the activity is

Inside the building, in the garden, or in fences and landscaping nearby.

  • The site

Access, drainage, gardens, paving and anything built against the house.

  • What you need

Dealing with current activity, longer-term protection, or both.

Ongoing management

Treating active termites is one part of the job. Keeping the property protected afterwards usually means regular inspections and keeping on top of the conditions that attract termites.

Chris will explain what ongoing management suits your property and how often it should be checked.

Things you can do

Small changes around the property make termite activity less likely and easier to spot.

  • Fix leaks and drainage

Dripping taps, leaking pipes, blocked gutters and pooling water all attract termites.

  • Keep timber off the ground

Store firewood, building offcuts and old timber away from the house and off the soil.

  • Keep slab edges clear

Avoid building up garden beds, mulch or paving over the edge of the slab or against walls.

  • Keep vents and weep holes clear

Good airflow under raised floors helps keep timber dry.

Should I spray termites myself?

No. Surface sprays and disturbing the timber usually just send termites somewhere else in the building, which makes them harder to find and treat. Leave the area alone and book an inspection.

How much does termite treatment cost?

It depends on the property, how it is built and what the inspection finds. Chris will explain the options and give you a price before any work starts.
